I am new to blogging, so bear with me and I’ll try to make it interesting. I am a creative person, by day running a company which, though engaged in the creative field, often leaves me feeling like I’ve sold my artistic soul for the sake of commercial reality. In my precious spare time, I endeavour to make art in a number of different ways. Welcome to my artistic journey – I hope to share some of my creations along the way.
I’ll start with drawing. To me, drawing is the key to achieving any kind of creativity. I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter if my drawing is rubbish, what matters is learning how to see an object, a landscape or a person and letting that image flow into my eyes and out of my fingertips. It can be an exhausing process and like a runner with flabby muscles, I need to exercise regularly to get good at it.

I seem to doodle faces a lot and I’m often surprised by the characters popping up out of my sub conscious. I drew my brother in law the other day. I didn’t realise til I’d finished and I said, “hey, I’ve just drawn Shaun!”
A couple of years ago I had a lightbulb moment when I read a sentence in a book called Art Escapes by Dory Kanter: “I believe that when it comes to art, quantity equals quality. The more art you do, the better you get.” Simple, yet so difficult to achieve.
So I try to doodle as much as I can and not care whether or not they make any kind of sense. As long as I make time to draw, I will eventually get better. So I draw the TV, the cat, my husband, my watch. Anything that comes into my field of vision.

I wanted to be first to post! Really like the blog, love the collage pieces and of course those shoes!!
