I accidentally locked Basil in the craft room overnight on Thursday and when I heard the pathetic little mew coming from inside as I came down the stairs on Friday morning, my first reaction was one of of dread. What on earth had he got up to overnight. Would I find projects ripped to shreds, or worse – pooped on? Well the place is such a bombsite in there, I honestly couldn’t tell! My second reaction of course was to scoop him up and tell him what a silly, stupid, gorgeous boy he was which prompted the usual reaction from teenage boys – “ewww, stop with the kissing, what’s for breakfast?” I did do a fairly thorough poop hunt and was pleased to find no evidence of his being caught short in the night – a big relief for Adrian, who would inevitably have landed the job of cleaning up the mess. He’s great like that.
Actually, while we’re talking about gross things (you don’t have to read this) Basil was sick the other night and I know it might be a very strange reaction, but I actually felt a little reassured by it. Basil has been such a different cat since we lost Sesame, he’s hardly left the house and normally, even in bad weather, both cats spent a lot of their time outdoors – we think they worked for Rentokill actually in pest control. So the fact he had eaten something that made him sick meant that he was back to his usual tricks and it felt like the old Basil was back.

Remember I mentioned a little while ago that I was going to be doing some giveaways on the blog nearer Christmas? Well I have been trying to tidy up my craft room and have uncovered mountains of STASH that has either never been touched, or hardly used at all. I just have too much stuff – you may not think it possible to have too much craft stuff, but trust me, I’ve pushed hoarding to its limits and enough is enough, it’s time to get rid of some of it. More details when I have sorted it into some kind of order.

Lovely picture of Basil relaxing. It’s nice to hear he is starting to get used to Sesame not being around any more.
Poor Basil getting shut in the raft room overnight, glad he managed to behave himself.
Love the picture of him relaxing and looking very chilled and pleased to hear he is getting back to his old self
Lovely to see Basil getting back to normal. I know what you mean about the poop hunt – ha ha ha
glad Basil is getting back to normal – he looks very comfy there.
Glenda, please stop saying you have too much stash – if you do that, who have every excuse, how are we to get away with it?!
Lovely Basil – look at his little pink paws aaaahhhhhhhhhhh xx
I thought exactly the same as Vron. His pink paw pads really stand out against his lovely black glossy coat.
Our newly adopted puppy has pink pads too with one black spot on the middle pad of each paw.
So glad Basil is getting back to his old self. It’s always a matter of time as it is for us.
Hmmm! It looks as if I don’t need to adopt him then?
Ahh cute little pink tootsies
So cute – I noticed his little pink paws too. Have you ever thought of creating stamps from his pawprints? (Or maybe that’s what he was doing while locked in your craft room!!)
I think your blog is great – have put it on my ‘First Class Blogs I like to read’ list on mine.
Poor Basil – my cats have over the years been shut into the airing cupboard, garage, shed and, worst of all, the loft which is only accessible via a portable ladder which is kept in the garage. The loft had only been open for a very short while too. You can guess that said cat didn’t realise she was shut into the loft until the middle of the night, when I had to go outside to get the ladder and rescue her – I was not amused!! Why is it that they creep unseen into such places – we do love them though don’t we??

Poor thing, though he doesn’t look as if he suffered much he he Actually he looks as if he has taken over with his gorgeous little pink pads on full view there
You mentioned that you had too much stash, as I have only been card making for just over 1 year is it possible to ever reach that stage ? he he The rose themeplate stamps are brilliant by the way, mine arrived yesterday he he
Oh I am so glad I am in the club he he Hope you Adrian and Basil have a brilliant Christmas Glenda

Cats get into the strangest places and you just don’t realise til you hear the pityful little mews.
Martha has this awful habit of nipping in behind drawers if I take them out. She must think that theres something interesting in there (apart from fluff!!). She once did it and I didn’t realise she was there and put the drawer back. Becasue it doesn’t go all the way to the back of the wardrobe, she thought she’d be clever and stay there. I only realised about 3 hours later when I came upstairs and could hear these muffled mews. Boy did she make me feel guilty!!!
Glad Basil has thrown up. Only other pet owners can appreciate how reassuring that is!!
Love
Jill

Well, that Basil is just so fabulous Glenda. And it’s so unusual for a black cat to have sweet little pink paws. As you know I’ve lost two kitties in the last few months and it has been dreadful – so sad (I even stopped crafting for a while …). Enjoy your wonderful cat; he is stunning, truly a beautiful animal. Lots of snuggles and purrs from me and my six Ragdolls & two baby Maine Coon kittens (wow, are they lively!). S x
I love reading your blog Glenda – and I am so envious of your skills – how I would love to be able to create a fraction of the gorgeous things you make – but a full time job, an aged parent and unwell sister, plus 2 adorable grandchildren keep stealing my time away. However, i persist! I will one day have the time to indulge myself but in the meantime keep inspiring me please!
Good to hear Basil is getting back to his ‘old self’ and glad there was no damage done in the craft room !
Basil looks very content in that photo, he must be sure that he has you well-trained by now
