I’m sure you all know that feeling of coming home from a craft shop with an impulse buy and a slight feeling of “oh my gosh, will I ever actually use that”. Well with the exception of the odd corner rounder, I don’t really ‘do’ punches very much, so why is it I seem to have brought a whole load home in my suitcase?
Is it the cute packaging? The fact they are designed square so they all line up neatly together? Is it in fact Lynn’s fault for giving me a Martha Stewart Punch shopping list, thus making me look at them in the first place?
Well, whatever the reason, I fell for them and offered them a loving home. (These should soon be available in the UK, by the way). So as I was unpacking the important stuff yesterday, I decided that these fell into the category of purchases that would sit at the back of the shelf and never get used if I didn’t do something with them straight away.
So I picked the hydrangea petal punch and set to work. I found a sheet of pastel rainbow cardstock and began punching from the pink/ lilac/blue area of the card.
I then dug out a piece of funky foam and using two layers together, rubbed a large ball tool in the middle of each of the flowers to curl them up slightly.
I cut a scalloped circle (Nestabilities – coming soon to Graphicus by popular demand, and about time too!) and started sticking down the larger flowers. I had inked the edges of the larger flowers, but decided that was far too fiddly, so abandoned that plan. In fact, at this stage, I was wondering if I had been attacked by some strange form of jetlag I’d not encountered before, as all this fiddly, tiny stuff is just not me at all.
Anyway, I carried on and built up the flower head and was surprised at how quickly it all went together. Adrian shouted through that dinner was ready, so I quickly spritzed on some Glimmer Mist and left it to dry while I savoured the gourmet delights of haricots poached in a delicately flavoured tomato sauce on a bed of lightly toasted seeded crostini (or beans on posh toast if you prefer).
The Glimmer Mist had settled nicely into the flower centres and I accented it some more with some Hero Arts flat back pearls, then mounted it onto a lilac scallop circle, edged with purple ink.
I stamped a stalk and two leaves from our Ruby Tuesday stamp set and the stamped the words from the Words of Gratitude set, inked the edges and mounted that onto the same lilac card.
The whole thing was then mounted onto a lilac card with a nice patterned K&Co paper.
The flash has bounced off the glimmer mist a little, so here’s a close up showing the texture.
Well, I don’t have a plan for this card, so I’ve decided to give it away to someone right here on the blog. Leave me a comment and I’ll pick a name randomly on Sunday. Let me know if you’d like it addressed to you and signed, or left blank so you can send it to someone yourself. It’s almost 6 inches square.

Oh Glenda that is so beautiful!!
Love Margaret
Oooo my first thought was the daisy punch is a gotta-have, then I spotted your creation with the hydrangea punch. Soooo pretty! And what a great punch to use up all sorts of little leftover papers from other projects. Blimey – could end up with having to name a new Hydrangea haha IF lucky enough to be picked outa the hat to win the card, I’d love it signed and it will sit proud on my craft wall as inspiration
What a gorgeous card! I lurve the Martha Stewart punches and am happy to know they will soon be available in the UK!!
Wow what a perfect purchase. I can see that a lot can be done with the punches that you bought. The card looks so delicate and the glimmer misting is so effective. Will we see the punches on the radiator in the next video? They’d add to the background setting . Would love the card as it’s my birthday soon.
Hey Glenda if thats what you do when you are slightly jet lagged its truly amazing!!!!Love the punch, love the card. The whole colour scheme and idea is perfect.Nice to have you back safely and feeding us with brilliant ideas! love Joyce
Lynn must’ve known how addictive those punches are when she gave you the shopping list!
I’m very impressed that you used it straight away rather than ‘tidying’ it away into a drawer and forgetting about it. A lessoned to be learned by all of us crafters – use it as soon as you bring it home. Then we might remember why we bought it in the first place!!!!
The card is beautifully simple, and because of that its simply stunning. The words are perfect and I’ve just ordered the stamp you’ve used for the stem and leavews last week in the sale. At least I presume its a stamp!!!
Good to have to you home and I’m pleased you brought your mojo back with you!!!
Love
Jill

Well Glenda to say you don’t like fiddly stuff I think you have excelled yourself with this beautiful creation.
It is soooo pretty – I may even have to invest in one of these punches myself. Glad you are back safe and sound. Love Cynthia x
OMG that is just gorgeous. When I saw the little twiddly bits I never expected the end result! I’d love the card to drool over and then send to someone please
Glad you had such a good time, jetlag or not
Beautiful card Glenda, I’ve read everybody raving about these punches an wondered about them. Well wonder no more, that is gorgeous
Beryl x
The punches do look fab … I can see them all lined up on a shelf in my craft room … some things are just made to be admired.
Just wanted to say how fab the little flowers look. The card is beautiful & the saying is delightful.
I luv making flowers for my creations using paper punches & I must confess to being thoroughly addicted to edge inking!
That is a stunning card Glenda. Does that mean you will be stocking the punches at Graphicus, I’ve had my eye on the lacy border one for ages now, Looking forward to the new stuff. Nicola.
Good to have you and your inspiration back Glenda.
This card is sooo pretty and if I were lucky enough to win I’d want it signed to me to be treasured because I make cards for everyone I know but receive very few handmade cards myself. Mind you my hubby nearly tricked me into making my own birthday card a couple of years ago!
Well Glenda, I can honestly say that if I’d seen that punch in a shop I would most likely have left it there! Like you, I don’t really ‘do’ punches except the odd border or crner punch – but when I see what you’ve created, I might just be a convert!! Lovely to have you back
Ann x
Luvverley!!! Why is it I adore “crafty” or stamped hydrangeas so much more than the real thing???
It’s a puzzlement.
Anyway, I love what you’ve done here & I love the punch……I see a purchase coming on!!!
Lovely to have you back & posting from this side of the planet Glenda
Glad you had such a fun time at the fair – & that it wasn’t all work work work. Mind you, as a lot of your work could also equate to play, I suppose the work work work wasn’t too bad either LOL
Beautiful card. I seem to have stopped using my punches a while back, but I now have some inspiration to have a play – thank you
HI Glenda,
I love the effect the glimmer mist gives to the petals – simply beautiful – and beautifully simple.
I too don’t usually go for punches, but after watching a demonstration using flower punches at a craft show last year, – I had to have one or two!
They have proven to be very useful at times when I want to add a bit of extra dimension to a project.
The added bonus is that it is very relaxing sitting punching and shaping flowers – I shall now add a spritz of glimmer mist and watch them come to life.
So once again, many thanks for the inspiration.
SueX
Wow what a lovely card and well worth the fiddly work to make it!! Great news about the nestabilities too.
Also an opportunity to possibly own such a card – who can resist.
all the best
Val W
Hey You! What are you trying to do….. you’re making my Trade Show focus wander way off line. Just had to stop myself jumping in the car to come and collect the wonderful stash you’ve brought me (better go via the BANK by the look of it)!
Those punches look amazing and of course you’ve added that serious art attack with the Glimmer Mists which instantly gives punched work a whole new dimension. Beautiful!
Does anyone want to put money on how long I will be able to resist taking a trip over to Glenda’s this weekend? Put the kettle on………….. I’m having to lash myself down to the chair in the work room!
Well I have to admit that I’m not one for using punches – too fiddly for me – think you made me ‘think again’ Glenda. What a lovely card and the Glimmer Mists ’sit’ just lovely. I could really look after that card for you
Oh my goodness how lovely is that! It just goes to show that with a bit of imagination these punches can turn into something beautiful.
Wow! What a beautiful card. you’ve combined many different things: the punches, variuos stamps, glimmer mists etc and made it all come together in a fabulous card anyone would be glad to recieve. I only wish my ideas worked half as well as yours!
Ann.
That is delicious Glenda. I’ll have to admit when I first clicked on the post I thought “Oh no punches!” but you’ve made a wonderful card and if I where lucky enough to win it, I’d want to keep it so please sign.
)
Opps my smillie has turned into a shout in the above post sorry it was meant to be a smile.
The card is so pretty, yes I’d love it, signed please!! Either way it’s lovely to see what you come up with when you sit down to “play”, so keep playing and showing us lots of lovely cards and stuff!
Hi Glenda. Good to see you back home and raring to go by the looks of it. Some nifty punching there! You’re right – if you don’t use your purchases straight away, they generally just sit there…. I can bear witness to that!!! and I’m going to change my old habits – really!! If I win I’d like it signed please. Thanks for the chance.
H..xx
Love the card – elegant simplicity. I certainly wouldn’t have contemplated cutting out all those flower heads. I have a ‘few’ unused punches, after seeing the demos at fairs and being inspired I usually forget the reason for buying when I get home!
If you are suffering a rare jet lag, please pass it on, it may have positive effects, judging by your effort.
I’d love the card, it’s mum’s birthday on the 8th.
Maggie
Oh Glenda if you pick this comment could you please sign it post it to Phree who has been having such terrible pain and trouble with her teeth, I think it would cheer her up very much indeed.
Glenda,
You have really cheered me up with that card, it looks lovely. You have inspired me to get the punches from out of the drawer and to try out these techniques. I used to make sugarpaste flowers and used a similar technique with a ball tool to make the petals curl so love the idea of using it with paper. If Iwere lucky enough to win the card, I would be honoured if you would sign it. It will go on the wall above my desk as a constant source of inspiration.
Liz
Hi Glenda, what a beautiful card!! I love hydrangeas anyway, and would never have thought of doing a card like that, but now I’ll have to give it a go… except I need to find a punch like that first,
Julie
Wow Glenda!
You really have got over your jetlag, what a super card.
Love it!!
If only I could to be lucky enough to win it, would like it signed please.
Promise I will give it a loving home where it will be truly appreciated & admired.
Isn’t itfunny about those Martha Stewart punches. I was on holiday in Florida in October and several just found their way home with me in my hand luggage. They really are beautiful. I can also recommend the nestabilities as well, as have been slowly collecting them for a while. I love the Glimmer Mist idea… and I just have a few of those flat backed pearls somewhere…….. now if I could just find someone to cook the supper……..!!!!
Great card! Looking forward to the new punches and nestabilities.
I have a love/hate relationship with hydrangeas! They look great in the summer in full bloom (but I only like the blue ones) and are definately on the tatty side in winter and look depressing.
Your beautiful card shows them at their best, and if I won your card I would love you to sign it.
Glenda
What a lovely card. It would be ideal for my mum – she would just love it. I enjoy your blog very much and look forward to all the new stamps that will be coming our way soon. Keep up the good work. If I am lucky to win the card I would like it unsigned – so I can give it to my mum on mothers day.
Glenda, thats really lovely, its nice to see you attempting the floral punch craft, I myself love it, and to be able to use new punches to achieve it is something to look forward to.
The Martha Stewart border punches are going down a storm over here, so no doubt you wont have any trouble finding homes for them, and I shall definately be keeping my eyes open for them on your website.
Its exciting to think that youve come back with lots of new ideas and I carnt wait to see you use them.
What a stunning card Glenda! Hope you will be stocking the punches too! I would love a signed card from you!
Alison xx
Oooo! Glenda
What are you doing to our bank balances. Martha Stewart punches have featured on my wish list since before Christmas and unfortunately they did not get crossed off. I suspect the Graphicus website was looked at, because that is where I usually direct peope, and failure!! So I will be buying them whatever happens.
That said, if I was lucky enough to win, this card would go to my dear sister, for whom gardening has been her lifeblood and got her through the most severe depressive illness, and is an wonderful haven in sunny south Devon.
So glad to see you back, and looking forward to seeing all the new goodies arriving.
Valx
Thanks for all your lovely comments, it’s nice to be back! I shall be on the phone Monday morning to see when the MS punches are going to be here and don’t worry, we will definitely be stocking them as soon as we can.
Glenda
Beautiful card Glenda, I can see that I will have to get out my stash of hardly used punches and look at them again.
Hope to see the MS punches on the website soon. My credit card is starting to tremble with the thought of another purchase coming on.
Great to have you back, can’t wait to see what other goodies you’ve ordered.
Sue
Beautiful card Glenda.
It would be wonderful to win it – signed please ’cause apart from what Lou gives me, I only get bought cards. It is just the right colour to go in our den, sit on my desk for a while and then be framed and hang on the wall for inspiration.
Welcome back – looking forward to being able to buy some of the new goodies.
Caz X
Wow, fab punches.
Stunning, I could hardly keep my eyes open after a few hectic days + very fresh air, while my tea cooks, I don’t think the aga has quite Adrian’ touch, still guess what I found in the freezer will be fine. They opened wide at your card.
I’d love your card for the inspiration, signed (to the real me) as I don’t get handmade cards from the family. I will look at my punches which I havent done much with again.
Pingers gone, so I look forward to your tale from the trip.
Dumpy
Fab card, I rarely use punches, but do like fiddly bits and think the pearls add a great dimension too. This card is a joy and whilst if I was lucky enough to win it I would love to keep it, I would send it to my sister-in-law who has just had a devastating diagnosis and needs lots of love and positive thoughts right now.
Have to admit I only have one flower punch. But I like my corners and borders. Glenda, I think the inked edges make all the difference. Worth the effort to get the extra depth of colour. Might feel differently if I’d been the one struggling with them though. Gorgeous colours. I can feel spring approaching on here even if it does feel more distant than ever outside.
Jo
Glenda, this is a lovely card and it’s amazing what you can do with a punch. I regularly look at a blog which mentions Martha Stewart punches so will be pleased when they come to the UK as I’m interested in the doily punch. Glad you had a good time and hopefully came home with lots of inspiration. I would certainly like to be in with the chance to win the card. I make all my cards to sell to raise funds for different charities and it would be nice to have one of your cards by my computer to give me inspiration to carry on when things are hard with my own health. Best wishes. Kym xxx
What a fab punch and a lovely card. Thank you for giving it away thats so nice
Clare
Wow great card, bet it’s stunning in real life…..I guess you had better send it to me so that I can see for myself LOL {cheeky mare me} I have to say though that the punch that appealed to me most was the one that looks like a carnation one. I am not a punch crafter myself, but could be swayed by that one and actually use it too.
I didn’t manage to check out your blog while you were away, but it’s been a lovely read catching up on your posts from CHA
Good to have you back in good ‘ol Blighty though
Jx
wow you have done a fantastic job with those punches that card is gorgeous. Would love to receive that card for myself as I give all my cards away normally.
Great card & love to see you ‘change tack’ a little like this as it sounds so familiar! Something…anything new & I have to try it immediately! I love that ‘push’; it’s really ‘re-energising’, & definitely is ‘me time’. Goes hand-in-hand’ with your New Year resolution too, I think? Like most everyone here I’d love your card…for me
Incidentally, I’m very drawn to your butterfly card in your 2nd blog too…the colours are wonderful!
Also must add to Carrie’s blog that I was inspired by her beautiful work & have been enjoying trying eraser carving (badly, lol! Mine look very primitive, heehee) but as it’s late I’ll add it to her blog tomorrow. )
Thanks again Glenda!

H I Glenda
Nice to see your back and raring to go.
You have really inspired me these last few months and your inspiration just gets better and better (I won’t mention the damage it does to my wealth lol).
I love reading your blog (don’t have one of my own and wouldn’t know where to start) so keep up the good work.
Would love to win a card for myself signed by you so I can look at it everyday
best wishes, Jenni
When I first saw the heading I thought oh my gosh someone stocking Martha Stewart border punches in the UK that I can rely on !!!! They are to die for he he. Her other punches are really cute too
Being lazy I would have used a slice from a polystyrene ball as a base for the hydrangea before building it up, can’t you tell I’m a lazy crafter he he
Hugs
Good to have you home again he he Jen xx
It’s beautiful Glenda and how generous of you to want to send it to one of us
Great to have you back Glenda – glad you enjoyed the trip. All I can say is long live the jetlag!!!!! LOL What a lovely card – the effect is great and would be delighted to receive it.

Hi Glenda, not quite your usual style but I have to say it is nice. I used to watch you on Create and Craft but have not seen you recently. I went through my stamp collection the other day and nearly fell on my back when I realized how many Graphicus stamps I do have, a great complement to you and your group as it is you that got me into stamping, now my favourite craft technique. Thanks for all the inspiration. Hello to Adrian as well , would love to see you guys on tv again. How about getting your own YouTube channel so we can replay at will.
Take Care
Mariaan
Any Idea where in the UK we’ll be able to get our hands on these stamps, Graphicus, maybe?
What a lovely card Glenda, even with jetlag you manage to achieve lovely creations. We are ‘grateful to you, becausse you make us happy’. Judith Smith.
Mariaan – we have a brand new TV show coming out on Create and Craft on February 10th, 1.00pm (just before Dawn Bibby on QVC, I believe). We also have our own You Tube videos, there’s a video page right at the top of the blog. And yes, we will be stocking the MS punches as soon as they’re available.
Glenda
What a beautiful card Glenda, it’s stunning.
I must admit that punches haven’t really been me either until recently when I’ve seen some truly wonderful creations. I’ll look forward to you stocking these punches with interest
Jo
Lovely card, and I have recently bought some MS stamps from the USA so will be glad if they are available over here too.
Oooo if I were lucky enough to win, I would definately be keeping it for me…so signed please LOL
Jx
Hi glenda,
probably too late for the card give away…but just wanted to say that although I don’t do punches and die cuts that much….I love the hydranger one….think I just might have to order it when you get it in!!
regards
Sue
Woohoo!
At last Martha Stewart punches over here! Hang on does this I have to stop going to USA for them?….
