I thought I would share some of the things I made at the open days at Graphicus this weekend. I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t actually been doing as much artwork as I would like, so two days of demonstrating was an absolute joy. Thank you to everyone who came along – I hope you all had fun? For those that couldn’t make it, here’s some eye candy for you.
This is made with Prima flowers which have been painted with Shimmerz paints – something new that we will be getting onto the website soon. They are very sparkly paints and work beautifully on the flowers. The flourish under the word is also something new – it’s laser cut chipboard from Australia and the delicacy of the designs is amazing. The flourish has been inked with pigment ink, then embossed with kaleidascope embossing powder, followed by clear embossing powder. The finish is just gorgeous. The background to the flowers is stamped with one of the new Brocade stamps and the whole thing is mounted onto a piece of Hambley scrapbook paper.

Another of the Aussie chipboard pieces on a glimmer misted tag, stamped with that yummy brocade background again. I love the little heart shapes on the end of the feelers. Same technique with embossing was done on this one too, just different colours. The gems ont the body are yet another new product for us – Dew Drops – little flat bead embellishments glued on with Glossy Accents.
This next piece was a complete experiment and I just love how it has turned out.
We have a new paint called Ferro which is a metallic paint with a lot of texture. The finish is almost like a shimmery sandpaper and it is very thick, so I came up with the idea of using it over one of the glimmer screens. I used a palette knife to ‘butter’ it over the screen and left it to dry. Once dry, I used coloursoft pencils over it to create the multi-coloured background. The pencils blend together beautifully over this background and you can still see the original deep pink colour showing through in places. I coloured the unpainted butterfly part with a blue memento marker, then gave the whole thing a good spritz of pearl Glimmer Mist.
Here’s some more of that amazing chipboard – two different dragonflies showing just how fine the cutting is and dew drops again on the dragonfly body.
This one is a very tall card – it’s 12 inches tall, using almost half a sheet of scrapbook paper. The tag is quite large and just thought this paper set it off really well.
The tag was sprayed with Glimmer Mists (Coffee Shop and Auburn I think) then embossed with Aqua Tinsel embossing powder. The greeting was also glimmer misted with a new colour, Summer Skies and a hint of Coffee Shop, edged with Potters Clay memento ink. Here’s a close up of the tag – you can see the engraved pattern on the bottom wings of the dragonfly.
And finally, here’s a tag made with Grungeboard and Wendy Vecchi stamps.
The grungeboard was painted with the Shimmerz paints and curled gently with a bone folder and mounted onto a tag coloured with – you guessed it, Glimmer Mists.
Well I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of the demo pieces. We will get some new videos done for the blog soon – I am all fired up to get some new demonstrations filmed, so watch this space.

WOW!
I am a big dragonfly and butterfly fan.
Just beautiful!
Awesome chipboard pieces… I love love every single one of them! Can’t wait to see more of your crafty creations!

This is absolutely…
LOVELY!

I really like the tags with the flower and the butterfly with the dream saying. Is the background behind the flower your handwriting (something I love to incorporate in my artwork) or a stamp?
Wow some great makes there, I just love those dragonflies, and the butterfly and flourish are fab too.
How lovely you had time to craft after all your sorting and organising. You must be soooooooo pleased you have got it all done
Love your cards Glenda. The last one is my favourite, beautiful.
Stumbled upon your site and WOW. I love all of your creations. I have glanced around a bit. Good luck with the completion of your settling in and your rest and relaxation.
See you again soon.
These are just lovely and the dragonflies and butterfly look really dynamic, so often they are pastel soft and merge but these really want to shout ‘here I am and I am beautiful’. I love the new stamp sets too, very versatile. Anything like damask or brocade is always one of my first choices as I just love the intricate patterns. Thank you so much for the enormous yearly paper pack. I really didn’t know there could be so much fun in just looking at pages but each one was just a delight, the trouble is I will not want to use them! Glad the hard work has been worthwhile. My craftroom is always a mess when I am working and after each project I am meticulous about putting everything away before I start again or I would never find anything so I know how wonderful it is when you finally get organised. Well done to everyone
I love that first dragonfly, it looks like it is made of cast iron. Beautiful!

I love the cards, and really love the new products they show- that chipboard is so pretty, and I was only wondering about those paints yesterday, thinking I needed to see the effect of them. Love them on the flowers.
I was also chatting with friends about the wonderful ‘words of wisdom’ plate which I see you have used here. Are there any plans for a sequel? I would love to see some family quotes and some more inspiring poems/sayings- I have used mine so many times they need a rest! There is something perfect about your choice of fonts that makes even my worst cards (and I am not a cardmaker) look good.
Oooh huge groan! I’m with Phree on this one. Every Open Day I swear I’ll get to the next one and then something stops me. My granddaughter and son’s birthdays this time and I’m gutted. I so wanted to come with Jo.
Thanks so much for posting all these lovely pictures though. There’s some wonderful inspiration there and lots of new goodies too.
I’m glad you all had such a great time and it’s lovely to hear Lynn is well on the mend too.
Hugs to you all
Lesley Xx
These are brilliant and almost (not quite though) make up for the fact that I live too far away to visit the shop or attend any open days, classes etc. Looking forward to seeing the new goodies on the website.

Oooo colour me green, I just read the comments from folk lucky enough to go to the open days! The things you made look gorgeous Glenda, and that Aussie chipboard looks fab.
What beautiful creations and lovely new products. I can feel more shopping coming on. Oh dear!

Glenda we had a fab day. I had a really gratey voice when I came home through all the talking and laughing, especially with Adrian and his wonderful stories!!!
The demos were fab and the shimmerz paint is just amazing. So shimmery and just more-ish. I love the Wendy Vecchi stamps. Jo bought 3 (I think) and she’s off next week so I think they will be put to very good use!
I just HAD to buy the gorgeous owls from the Australian laser-cut chipboard range, because of what you’d done. You’ll have to get a photo put on here!
The clearance corridor (as Joanna Sheen called it!) was just fab. Lesley gave me so many ideas for things I could do with things in the clearance bit, I just had to buy!!!
Davids food was (again) delish!!!
Thanks to everyone involved and especially to Lynn for coming in. She looked so well and was obviously enjoying herself so much her poor husband couldn’t get her to go home!
Heres to the next one!!!
Love

ohhh how lovely! The Shimmerz effect looks fabulous and the textures with the other goodies are fascinating, look very touchy-feely. Love the fine detailed cut of the Aussie chipboard. Running for my wish-list again
Hi Glenda,
more gorgeous inspiration for us – unfortunately living so far away, your open days are out of my reach.
Absolutely love the chipboard shapes – so delicate – they are a must have. (and they will also give me more things to do with my Dew Drops)!
Thank you for sharing with us all and for continuing to inspire us.
Best wishes to you and Adrian and a cuddle for the Handsome Basil.
Take care

What a brilliant day out Chris and I had at your open day on Saturday. It was lovely to see you all again and really enjoyed your brilliant and informative demos. Came home with lots of inspiration, not to mention goodies!
I think I need a little more practise with the paints – you make it look so easy – but I do remember you saying something about using new items and expecting to assign the first couple of attempts to the bin – wise words.
Thanks also to Annette and Lesley for their helpful hints and advice. Can’t wait to get my welcome pack for the Guild – I’ve been meaning to join for ages.
Really pleased to see Lynn looking so well following her recent knee op.
Can’t go without showing our appreciation for Bistro Graphicus manned by David and his able assistant Adrian.
Thanks to all your team for putting on such a wonderful event. Ever thought of relocating to Lancashire?
Hope to see you again before too long.
Love

Wow, these are gorgeous! And those chipboards – amazing! Must haves.
