I needed to make a couple of birthday cards this week and this is a very quick and simple card that takes minutes to make. It features our new Filigree Blocks and Loving Sentiments stamps, plus stamps from Retro Vases. I used four shades of VersaMagic chalk ink in total stamped very simply onto white card. The filigree block was inked up using Sea Breeze, then a little Oasis Green was tapped on around the edges. The sentiment was then stamped over the block with Red Brick. The flowers on the card were stamped first with Sugarcane, then Red Brick, then the smaller flower was stamped with Oasis Green. The sentiment is stuck on with foam pads. I think my Nanna was happy with it.
This second one came about because I saw some of the Mucha inspired Clarity stamps at the open day last weekend and I really wanted to try colouring them with my Copic markers. I really enjoyed colouring this in and used Clarity’s postcards to stamp it on to with Memento Tuxedo black ink. The paper and flowers are from Prima, all stuck onto a greeny gray card that someone accidentaly left behind on our stand at a show back in 2004. It’s a lovely subtle colour and I’ve never seen the same colour since, so it was with some reluctance that I finally used it up.
Adrian and I managed to take a day off work on Friday and with Derrick feeling a little better, we headed over to Carlisle to see my Nanna who turned 86 this week! She is remarkable for her age and she told me that she compares notes with her 83 year old friend and they both agree that as they haven’t had the telegraph from Liz, they’re not old yet.
My mum and aunt came over, then my uncle who I haven’t seen in ages turned up too, so with all of us plus other halves, it turned into quite a party and made for a lovely day. We took the scenic route via Alston and not long after we set off, we came across this guy strutting down the road:
How can you not be inspired by those glorious colours?

Such lovely photographs, especially the close up of the tail feathers. Love them! So glad you had a day out and what a wonderful occasion to get the family together. There are never enough special days like that in the year so I am very glad you enjoyed it so much.
What a wonderful day for you to enjoy with your family, Glenda. The added bonus of beautiful ‘Percy’ in your camera sight iced the cake. He’s gorgeous!
I’m not surprised your Nanna liked her card. I saw it at the Open Day and it is lovely – really fresh and pretty. That’s some intricate colouring on the second card. It’s not taking you long to get to grips with the Copics is it?
